KCAW

The borough of Kensington and Chelsea has an artistic heritage that encompasses some of the best and brightest creative names. From South Kensington’s Museum Quarter to the bustle of King’s Road; from the urban bohemia of Notting Hill to the modern elegance of the Design Museum, a journey through Kensington and Chelsea is a journey through history.

We are delighted to be drawing on this cultural legacy with Kensington + Chelsea Art Week. KCAW celebrates the rich heritage of the borough by opening doors to local creative spaces along with leading organisations in the area to facilitate further public engagement in the local culture.

KENSINGTON + CHELSEA FESTIVAL

Kensington + Chelsea Art Week is expanding throughout the summer season with a festival that elevates the magic and shared experiences of public art and live performance. From 21 June – 31 August, K+C Festival will bring people together to celebrate, inspire, and be inspired.

We’re busy co-creating a diverse programme with local, national and international artists, our communities, organisations and the wealth of talent behind the scenes whose careers have been on hold over the past year. The festival is inspired by the rich heritage, creativity, culture and innovation in Kensington and Chelsea and we are welcoming all to come and explore with us.

BURSTING WITH CREATIVITY, POSSIBILITY AND CHOICE

Fun, inspirational, surprising and extraordinary experiences will be safe and accessible across Kensington and Chelsea’s iconic venues and public spaces, with online and interactive ways to get involved and enjoy the festival.

Re-imagining creativity and culture for everyone, public art and curated tours, ballet and street art, broken beats and orchestras, circus arts and gaming culture, exhibitions and workshops, will all feature in well-known and unexpected places. The festival mix spans visual art, a diverse Public Art Trail, design, theatre, dance, music, family shows, cabaret, comedy, spoken word and street food, plus creative experiments and seeing how artists bring new ideas to life.

Co-creation, sharing ideas and stories will feed into creating extraordinary experiences in extraordinary times. We believe it’s everyone’s right to help shape culture and influence possibilities. Local people, artists, audiences, staff and volunteers will reflect the diversity of our global borough and global reach.

COLLABORATIVE, CURIOUS AND CONNECTED

K+C Festival aims to set a new standard as a visionary international arts event in London, actively engaging both local communities and global audiences in the richness and diversity of contemporary culture. We couldn’t make this happen without our Participants and partners throughout Kensington & Chelsea and beyond, who share our mission to highlight resilience and re-connect with communities, creatives and spaces in exciting and authentic ways.

Want to know more? The festival is evolving every day and we don’t want anyone to miss out! We’ll post announcements about the programme, launch events, opportunities for artists, ideas-sharing sessions, internships, workshops and calls for volunteers, regularly here on our website, newsletters and social media.
